Letter from the NEBB President
One of the privileges of being NEBB President is working in the footsteps of past NEBB Presidents and working with current NEBB leaders. I am honored to serve as your 2013 NEBB President and humbled by the confidence placed in me. I will do my very best to serve this great organization.
I’d like to extend my fond personal appreciation to our immediate past President Neil Marshall. Neil – Thank you. In addition a big thank to our board, committees, chapter leaders, NEBB national staff, vendor partners and all those NEBB guys who have volunteered time this year. Without their hard work NEBB would not be in a position to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. I am always amazed by the resourcefulness of NEBB Professionals. Our people have a tendency to always find solutions for the most difficult situations facing our customers.
In the last few years, many NEBB Firms have faced downturn in the economy but they have always looked at opportunities of improving how they serve their clients. As an industry we are looking at ways to reduce building energy, water and waste. As an organization we are stepping up to meet those demands. To this end, each of NEBB’s disciplines is refining procedural standards to enhance building efficiency.
Over the next decade, we anticipate tremendous increase in infrastructure spending to make up for the current lack of investment. NEBB professionals are positioned to lead the way to optimizing high performance buildings.
This year has been a busy year for NEBB. We launched a new discipline – Building Envelope Testing, committees have undertaken reviews of procedural standards, we participated in many industry conferences and worked with industry partners to build stronger bonds and exchange best practices. We also launched “the NEBBinar,” a new program to generate awareness of NEBB disciplines among building owners, architects, engineers, and other customer segments.
Registration is now open for our much anticipated 2013 NEBB Annual Conference, in Montreal, Canada. I recently had an opportunity to visit Montreal as part of our conference preparations and I’m excited for the good time that we’ll be experiencing during the conference.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a successful New Year!
